Afterschool Doodles & Doughnuts for Teens
Tuesdays, 3 November–15 December | 4–6pm
Ages 13–16 | FREE — no booking needed
Drawing, friends and doughnuts! Join local artist Alice-Marie for relaxed drawing sessions where you can try out ideas, hang out and get creative. Bring your sketchbook and imagination — we’ll bring the doughnuts.
Craft Genies
Tuesdays, 3 November–15 December | 5–8pm
Ages 18+ | FREE
Bring a project, learn a skill and meet fellow makers. This friendly group meets in the Living Room to share ideas, help with tricky projects and explore mending, upcycling and making. Beginners welcome!
Creative Writing
Tuesdays 10 & 24 November and 8 December | 6.30–8pm
Ages 18+ | FREE — no booking needed
Give your ideas somewhere to go. These friendly, self-guided sessions use creative prompts and inspiration from other writers to help you experiment with form, structure and imagery. There’s space to share your work, exchange feedback and enjoy writing alongside others.
Queer & Co.
Tuesday 17 November | 6–8pm
Ages 16+ | FREE
Join Rainbow Newport and Pride in the Port for a welcoming LGBTQ+ social. A safe, sober space for queer people and allies to meet, share a cuppa and enjoy a conversation.
Circus of Positivity
Wednesdays 4, 11 & 18 November | 6–8pm
Adults and teenagers over 14 | FREE — no booking needed
Try something new, meet people and explore circus skills in a fun, supportive environment. Come along for a relaxed social session or work towards a personal goal.
The final session at The Place is Wednesday 18 November.

Saturday Theatre Club
Saturdays, 7 November–12 December | 11.30am–1pm
Ages 6–12 | FREE — booking required
Big imaginations welcome! Create new worlds, tell stories and make friends through a weekly mix of theatre, play and creativity, led by performing arts practitioners.
Spaces are limited to 10 children per session, so please book ahead.
Plot 4 Community Allotments
Every Sunday | 2–4pm
Coldra Road allotments | FREE
Get outdoors, get growing and enjoy some friendly company. Join Plot 4 for weekly gardening and social connection, with a monthly Wellbeing Creativity session exploring the seasons and the natural world.
Children are welcome alongside their guardians. These sessions take place at the allotment site.

Shrines with Marega
Wednesday 11 November | 5.30–7.30pm

Inspired by Indian pathway shrines and Mexican Day of the Dead altars, explore creating your own personal shrine and contribute to a collective altar.
Materials are provided. Please bring a vessel to house your shrine — big or small — plus any images, words or meaningful objects you’d like to include.
