Doodles and Doughnuts returns with local artist Alice-Marie for our teen-focused drawing sessions.

This is your space to relax, hang out and get creative with friends. Bring your ideas, sketchbooks and good vibes — we’ll bring the doughnuts.

Life Drawing

Join Jonathan Sherwood for fortnightly life drawing sessions designed to help you build confidence, develop your skills and explore the beauty of the human form.

Creative Writing with Katy Arnell

In these friendly fortnightly sessions, writers are invited to respond to a range of creative prompts and explore different ways into writing.

We’ll look at form, structure and imagery, while drawing inspiration from a wide range of writers. Everyone is welcome to share their work, receive feedback or simply enjoy the process of writing in a supportive space.

Adult Clay Play with Ty

Everyone loves clay — and why should kids have all the fun?

Adult Clay Play with Ty is an informal, adults-only space to explore your creative side. Join our resident clay king Ty and make your own creations using air-drying clay.

Social Wellbeing Circus

Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, Circus of Positivity invites you to join them for fun, informal circus sessions.

Meet people, try something new or work towards a goal in a supportive environment. These social sessions are open to adults and young people aged 14+.

Jean Genies

Jean Genies is an open-access garment mending and upcycling collective that meets in our Living Room.

Learn new skills in fabric mending, get help with tricky projects and spend time with like-minded makers. Perfect for beginners and anyone interested in repairing, reusing and reimagining clothes.

Suitable for: Ages 12+. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Yoga with Andrew

Join Andrew for a rejuvenating yoga session blending mindfulness, breathwork and flowing movement.

Across the course, you’ll explore movement, stillness and balance while building strength and calm. Each class includes meditation, sound healing and yogic philosophy, supporting you to continue your practice at home.

Suitable for all levels. Wear comfortable clothing. Mats are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Art Relaxation Workshops for Adults

Join our art workshop for adults, blending relaxation and creativity.

Each session starts with a 15-minute holistic therapy to refresh your mind, followed by creative art activities designed to support wellbeing in a calm, welcoming space. Perfect for stress relief, soothing creativity and artistic exploration.

Saturday Theatre Club

Learn to create new worlds, tell stories and make new friends in this weekly mix of play and creativity.

Run by leading practitioners in the performing arts, Saturday Theatre Club is a great chance for children to meet like-minded others and develop their creative toolkit.

Plot 4: Green Wellbeing Programme

Plot 4, based at Coldra Road Allotments, is our weekly outdoor group for enjoying all things nature.

We learn to grow plants and vegetables, spend time outdoors and connect with like-minded people. This year, our Wellbeing, Creativity and Gardening for Connection programme celebrates nature, growing and the wonder of the natural world.

Family-friendly and welcoming. Children must be accompanied by their guardians. Refreshments are provided.

One-Off Events & Things to Look Out For

The Place: Summer of Wonder!

Join The Place Newport’s free summer celebration on Saturday 18 July, 11am–4pm.

Enjoy a day to kick off the summer holidays with creative workshops, community celebration and a chance to see what our regular groups have been making over the past 10 weeks.

The day brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to connect, create and celebrate community.
